JCS hosts inaugural Volunteer Appreciation Event

WARWICK – The atmosphere at Tamarisk Senior Living was electric as Jewish Collaborative Services hosted its first-ever JCS-wide Volunteer Appreciation Event recently.

The superhero-themed festivities were as diverse as the volunteers themselves. A scavenger hunt, which tasked participants with finding mini superhero figurines, saw six lucky winners walk away with gift cards. Creative certificates were given out, such as the Giving Tree Award for selfless dedication and the Champagne Award for the volunteer with the most sparkling personality.

But beyond the awards and games, it was the sense of community that truly stole the show. Whether indulging in delicious food, sipping on “super punch” or engaging in friendly rounds of giant Jenga, the 30 volunteers basked in the joyous atmosphere of appreciation and camaraderie.

The event was spearheaded by Laura Cole, JCS’s development and volunteer coordinator, with help from Lisamarie Carbone, director of Memory Care Enrichment at Tamarisk Senior Living.  

JCS volunteer and board member Robin Engle was recognized at the event for having been awarded the Jewish Human Service Agency’s 2024 PowerNET Lay Leadership Award. Winners were recognized during the PowerNET 2024 Conference, in Pittsburgh.

Cole said she was delighted by the success of the event and envisions the Volunteer Appreciation Event evolving and expanding over the next few years, nurturing an even stronger sense of community within the JCS volunteer team.
