The Jewish Young Professionals (JYPs) of RI invites the community to a free movie screening of the new documentary “Screams Before Silence” on June 18 from 6-7:45 p.m. in the community room at Rochambeau Library, 708 Hope St., Providence.

Screams Before Silence, directed by former Meta (Facebook) COO Sheryl Sandberg, is about the systematic sexual violence perpetrated by Hamas during the terrorist attacks in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

According to an article in the Times of Israel (April 26), “The hour-long film, created in cooperation with Israel’s Kastina Productions, provides first-hand accounts from survivors, freed hostages, first responders, and legal, medical, and forensic experts. Sandberg is present throughout the film either interviewing individuals in a studio or accompanying them to October 7-related sites. What emerges is not only an understanding of the mass scale and barbarism of Hamas’s sexual attacks against women but also their deliberate, pre-meditated, and systematic nature.”

This event is free and open to all adults. Registration is required due to limited seating. After the movie, there will be an opportunity for discussion and networking. Refreshments will be provided.

Don't miss a chance to dig deeper on this important topic so that these women's stories do not go unheard. If you would like more context and information about what happened on Oct. 7, you can watch a recording of Rhode Island Coalition for Israel’s recent Zoom event “The Reality of Sexual Violence in War: 6 month Remembrance of Oct 7 Hamas attacks in Israel.
